May I expand the subject to the much more repulsive Wild Garlic?
Covers as much ground and is as thick and slippery, less attractive and the smell gets into your shoes and clothes.
I remember finally getting rid of the odour from my shoes with washes and fabreze and next event 2nd control "Hill Top" could have been better described as " Middle Large Patch Wild Garlic"

Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Re: Bluebells
I thought that the wild garlic coming through the last few controls at graythwaite was quite pleasant (but I probably didn't have to run through the middle of it.)
If I thought that increased bluebell or wild garlic cover helped suppress brambles (which I'd guess it does a bit), then I can probably put up with it for a month!

Re: Bluebells
Ran through pleasant areas of bluebell last night at a low turnout local event. Damage was insignificant - but probably only due to limited numbers of runners.
No sign of the bluebells suppressing the significant areas of brambles we were also distressingly led through. Need to import some munjacks for that urgently.

If it was the same OD event I was at; I saw one (muntjack) within the woods while trying to make sense of the fence lines.
(and I ran through some wild garlic)
