Travel
Easily accessible by public transport- simply catch the number 60 bus from the interchange (next to the train station) to Endcliffe student village. A car park will be available for drivers. Please try to share lifts.
This is actually the number 40 now.

How's that compare against the Supertram (either from the station or park-and-ride)?

tram to the University and then walk/jog, it's very handy for the final but not so handy for the qualifier
It's £3.50 for a dayrider which you can use on stagecoach buses too (don't know if they go to Endcliffe though?)

Re: Sheffield City Race
Please excuse my ignorance but I am confused about the Nopesport Cities Cup and the Nopesport league. Are they different?
Also on the flyer it says that the Sheffield event is the grand finale (my interpretation) with prizes and party, but then underneath it says London and Sheffield are no longer part of the Cities Cup. What's going on?
I'm sure the Sheffield Chasing Sprint will be a cracking event with my favourite mappers mapping and planning and the very capable Team Shuoc organising under the capable hands of G
Bring it on.....

Re: Sheffield City Race
The cities cup concept was withdrawn a long time ago, and was going to consist of just 3 events within the Urban League, which is still continuing.
We should still be having an Urban League prizegiving at the event, but the intention to have a grand, end of season party and celebration of British orienteering didn't really meet with much interest, so hasn't really been followed up.

Do you have any idea what format the City League/Cup will take in 2009 and what events will be included?
Cheers

Re: Sheffield City Race
May I ask - as a relative newcomer to orienteering who "ran" in the York race this May ( did the "junior class" 2.5 km I think) and "ran" at Stockport in June (W45 course 4.6km) in a fairly slow time (but I finished
) -----
Will Sheffield be "faster" "different" - I'm presuming shorter finishing times for the fastest and shorter courses than Stockport. But will I feel outclassed or am I just worrying because it's called a sprint race and I don't really sprint!

Sprint doesn't (necessarily) mean sprint speed - it refers to the distance, i.e. that these will be short distance races. The terrain will be similar to York & Stockport (i.e. urban), though it is actually a university campus and a park. The distance of the Sheffield races will be less than York and Stockport, but there are two parts (a prologue and a final). Added together, they'll be similar I guess to York and Stockport.
There'll be plenty of people not "sprinting", but enjoying it anyway!

Thanks for that. I'll sort the entires out and I'll be one of the ones enjoying it anyway - whilst chasing after the fitter members of my family! Certainly be looking forward to a cold drink and pub meal afterwards with undergraduate offspring in Sheffield.
Can't travel over with the rest of the family and not meet up with and feed the hungry student can we?

I think the wife is going to use the event as an excuse to take up a car load of rations to ensure dear offspring does not starve before Christmas.
I am just going to enjoy the racing on, what will undoubtedly be great maps.
Just hope there is no snow this year!!

Hmm, well if I ever get it finished!
Joking aside current building/demolish rates have finally slowed and rather than re-mapping what I mapped last time (which I seem to do every time I visit) I'm finally happy that the builders have moved out. This is a brand spanking new campus -literally last week!
