Re: ORingen Accommodation
I have booked self catering accommodation twice in Sweden near origens (within 8k of the event centre) in the past with an excellent company called Novasol and always received excellent value for money. When I looked at accommodation for this year's oringen about 18 months ago on the Novasol web site there were loads of houses good quality market cabin accommodation. For top of the range 5* 2 baths jacuzzi, dishwasher etc, sleeping 8, the cost was around £550. The price was actually cheaper than in the winter as it is not a summer holiday destination unless of course there are 20,000 people needing accommodation. 12 months ago after coming back from the oringen I thought about booking a house potentially for a group of juniors to go and use. The camp site is way away from the event centre. Lo and behold all the accommodation had gone from the Novasol site as it had been taken over by the Oringen organisation. I searched for alternatives on the web but had no joy. I think this is market economics at work; someone somewhere is making a nice profit.

Re: ORingen Accommodation
Nice site ER - I've bookmarked it for future reference!
It seems to me that things are beginning to move along now that the head of the Swedish Federation has got involved and brought his staff with him. The front page didn't change for 2 months and lately there have been quite a few updates. i know of two groups who do not appear on either list who have been assured they will be getting accommodation and i think it would be a shame to loose faith now especially as cancelling accommodation which is coming through is only going to add to the organisers' burdens.
If the organisation fails this year they must know it will set them back a great deal in the future ( and i can't say that i feel the next couple of years venues look that exciting - perhaps because they seem quite close to places I've already been), so i think they must be busting a gut to get things sorted - having said that only 40 something days to go - ah well what the hell if we all end up sleeping under hedges - it'll be an experience

Credit card bill just come through with the damage; 347 quid for the week for eight of us. Not bad but I gather some are paying a lot more..........

Last year, we didn't hear until after June 21. What we landed up with was excellent, so don't despair (yet!).

Re: ORingen Accommodation
Received our confirmation today; now I just have to translate the invoice and the website we have been given a link to. They have sent basic checking-in times in English but the rest is all in Swedish, with no English option on their website.
1980 SEK for 4 = 495 / person = the top end of the range quoted on the O-ringen site.
We are at Stoten, which is about 25 miles north-west of the event centre and just 2 miles from Norway. Any other Brits up there ?
As we are taking the car by ferry (touring around for a week afterwards) we might end up using it some of the time for convenience even though we have booked bus passes. We will have to see when the busses run. Anyone know how we actually get hold of the passes ?

Re: ORingen Accommodation
You need to pull up your entry, go to edit entry and the services (inc. bus passes) are on a drop down menu underneath your entry (according to hubby who has spent three weeks on the site!)

Gross - how do I get hold of a VIP pass ? I'm not as famous as you and don't have your experience of Scandinavia.
Wendles - thanks. I held off booking bus passes until just before the closing date, hoping to get accommodation details first. I booked and paid for them at the end of May, then the deadline got extended. My question was how do we physically receive them, not how do we order them.

Re: ORingen Accommodation
In 2005 the bus passes were in with the race numbers etc that you picked up at the competition centre.

Re: ORingen Accommodation
Yes that's what usually happens - but of course we have to get on the bus to get to the competition centre - not the usual stroll across the camp site
Is it my imagination or are we not getting the usual amount of pre-comp information on the web pages this time - you know lay out maps of what is where etc.
there is actually some information there on the top of the news page but it has not been translated into english - perhaps I'll e-mail them today and ask what it says.
