Re: Tiomila
This is not good. I have paid my 60k for what I thought was the whole broadcast but I'm looking at the palace and a load of spectators. When I try and select the women's race, my code is invalid!

Re: Tiomila
I can see the women now but no evidence of the control tracking, am I missing something somewhere?

Re: Tiomila
Paid my 60 k and have really enjoyed watching. The women's race was a classic, and I think I'm right in saying that Jo S's team got the silver medal. The men's long night leg was fascinating, following on the GPS, with 30 teams within a couple of minutes of each other. Time for a couple of hours sleep, and up for the finish.

Still going strong over here in trondheim. We have 3 screens on the go, main broadcast on one then switching between other camera and tractrac on the second and results on the third.
I think kristiansand are in with a good shout! Ntnui are getting a lot of TV time.

Must have been a great finish to the Mens Race. Daniel Hubmann won by 3 seconds having overtaken Halden!! Third team very close behind too!!

Oops only woke up at 7 so missed the end of the race. Maybe I didn't miss much? It looks like the three leaders just followed each other round for 90 minutes before the sprint at the finish.
Interesting though, the psychology of following. A bit like the long-distance track races in cycling, except in cycling the guy in front can't get lost!

Re: Tiomila
Are these results correct - Distracted a minute quicker than Daniel Hubmann on the last leg?

Re: Tiomila
Our ninth- and tenth-leg runners got mass-started, which for the final leg (distracted) meant a 5km reduction in length. Still, we managed not to get DSQed, which is a vast improvement on JOK's previous Tio attempts
A thoroughly enjoyable weekend - despite my own comic ineptitude - and incredibly well organised. I'll definitely be going back next year

Re: Tiomila
Beating Daniel Hubmann? Yeah right... as Scott says they pulled us in, at the spectator control, missed out on a bit of a control pick near the end. Chris Embrey on first leg had the run of the night for us - just over 13 mins down on the winners on first leg - always good to get away to a solid start
Anyhow, I can now join the band of people saying "you must do this!" - even if you're not running, the atmosphere of the race arena and professionalism of the set-up means that the experience as a spectator is second to none. To the extent that it's possible to go to the event purely as a spectator. Perhaps the only disadvantage is not easily being able to follow the teams lower down the results list, or how your team-mates are getting on (unless you have mobile Internet access).
Britain has, and (I have to say) will never have anything quite like it. I'm now looking forward to Jukola in June - entries closes mid-May for anyone interested... it's well worth attempting to put together a team
