I was 11 when I first met Ivor - 27 years ago.
It wasn't long before I was pally with all the Noots and almost "part of the family". They had a really cool "open house" policy and I seemed to spend far too many (brilliant) weekends there. Ivor was always ready to take you for a run or a bike and always in front of you on that "Murder Hill" (can't remember it's name!). Ivor took a real and very keen interest in all ages of orienteer - even making sure that at the recent JK he'd logged on to see how we were all doing. There's that saying "Why is it the best people are taken from us early ?". This really applies to Ivor - a top, top man who, as a youngster, always seemed invincible to me - I respected and admired him more than he will ever know. He will not be forgotten.
Our thoughts are with Paulette and family (hope you got a sunny day on Monday's send-off). Jase

Re: Ivor Noot
Those of you who know about Ivor's diet will appreciate this. We were returning from the funeral on Monday and called into a nearby MacDonald's for coffee. Sitting watching the traffic going past and feeling pretty low I was idly picking all the little sticky labels off the cup. My eyes were caught by 'instant win' on one of them. What had I won? A bowl of bloody porridge! I could almost hear Ivor laughing at me.

Celebrating Ivor's life at Ogden and Noot house
Paulette and family have asked me to post this on Nopesport. They have taken great comfort and strength from the words spoken on these pages.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear All,
On the May Day bank holiday, Monday 5th May, there will be a gathering / walk / run at Ogden, children and buggy friendly, (string course/treasure hunt planned)
We’ve organised a field to park in, kindly made available by the Causeway Foot Inn. The postcode for the pub is HX2 8XX for all your sat navs / google. When you turn into Ogden lane, turn immediately right into the pub car park, drive through and out into the field beyond, please leave the pub car park free.
We’re going to meet at the far side of the dam across the cobbled walkway at 10.30am. (10 mins stroll down the lane from the pub).
The plan is to walk for 15 min walk along a flat path, suitable for buggies, to gather at spice cake hills around what Jonathan Emberton calls ‘Ivor’s knoll’. The run will start from here and the walk continue round the reservoir.
Returning afterwards to Noot house / garden (HX3 5AA) for chat and refreshments (outdoor chairs might be useful).
We’d love everyone to join us on this day to celebrate Ivor’s way of life and energy, to remember him in a happy, positive way.
If you are thinking of coming along, feel free to let us know and we’ll plan accordingly or ring (or PM Seamus) with any questions or suggestions.
Any donations to Myeloma UK c/o Lawrence Funeral Services, Green Hayes, Bell Hall, Halifax, HX1 2XR.
Warmest regards
Paulette, Reuben, Sarah and Rebekah
