deebee as a civil servant I work in a military unit, in the military orienteering is classed as training. Therefore wednesday afternoons I assist in the soldiers training by either organising events for them to test their navigational skills or take training and coaching periods to teach basic navigational skills.
I'm afraid the civil service don't pay that well, but it does encourage its employees to fully intergrate in unit activities. However I wouldn't feel guity about taking a bit of time off now and again as I usually work through my lunch break, start work at 0730 most mornings instead of 0830, regullarly work past 1700hrs and as I did today went into work for an hour this morning which I wont claim for. I might add I have fully paid taxes for the last 41 year for which in that period I have never had a day unemployed. At the end of the day I don't feel a bit guilty about enjoying my wed afternoons and like to think some of the taxes I have been paying over the years that I am now reaping the benefits.
Hey if you live in the south don't be shy come and join in the fun, if you do live in the south and your work wont allow the time off my commiserations.

Cheers for the link Ollie! How did they manage to spell both Sarah and David's names wrong? And I think there's a couple of Helens out there who might wish to argue about the title under Sarah's name
Jokes aside, for a quick piece that wasn't bad at all was it? Until the presenters spent almost half as much time afterwards talking about the "strange lady."

After the appearance of my Mother the other week on BBC News 24, my sister and brother-in-law (the Barwicks of HOC) can be seen on today's BBC News 24 at the Lib-Dem conference in Wales. She's knitting and he's asleep. I'm keeping well away from the cameras. . .

You are Heather's brother/sister
how amazing. It should be stated at this point that Heather is a very good knitter and i am in possession of a pair of very useful dual purpose gloves (fingerless but with flip up mitten ends) of her design and construction
. Mr H is currently starring (I think that's the right word) in Ultimate House on Discovery Real time - bless him

I would like to add that the spookiness was down to the sunlight coming from behind mum and no offence was intended!
I've yet to hear from Mike if he prefers orienteering in the forest to being chased through it by the Sheriff of Nottingham!
