Is no-one in BOK, Devon, SO or LOC feeling very confident - or do they just not read Nopesport?

I predict a very close call between OD, NOC and SYO. But SYO has a few oldies running a shorter course this year so will edge ahead despite the absence of some well-known W21s.

I've just seen SARUM's team list, they will struggle to win the Trophy this year. To many of their of their Juniors missing, which basically won the competition for them last year.

Can I change my vote?!!
Just had a look at the start lists. My money is now on SYO. The question is, with such a head start on Brown, can anyone else catch them?
And can they do the double? The Dark Peak FRA team is also basically a team of Sheffield orienteers.

Re: CompassSport Cup Final
Good competition today, though the area lived up to it's rough expectations - i certainly sympathise with the early starters. I thought there were a few ambiguities with the vegetation (e.g. blocks of fight that were easier to get through than parts mapped as runnable). Cracking run from GG on the Brown course to win by 6 and a half mins! Well done to OD and FVO, worth the effort to come all that way!
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.

Re: CompassSport Cup Final
I travelled all the way south anticipating bramble hell but was pleasantly surprised that Blidsworth wasn't quite as bad as its reputation suggested. Not a brilliant area but if you were brave enough to venture past the first 10m or so of brambles on the edges of blocks (where the sun is obviously penetrating more) it often wasn't quite as bad further in. Must congratulate the planner(s?) for a job well done and OD and FVO for their results.

Re: CompassSport Cup Final
Wow - amazing strength on the Brown from SYO. 572 points out of a possible maximum of 585. Now if they only had that strength in all the other classes...........!
Tremendous result for OD taking home the Cup for the third year in a row.....and 5 class winners too!
I imagine NOC were disappointed not to win on home territory - must have been an advantage.
Where is the final next year????

Re: CompassSport Cup Final
Looking at the routegadget page and GG's blog I was interested to see how many people chose a straight route to control 1 on the brown and blues. If anyone reading this took such a route it would be interesting to know what your plan was:
1) To skirt around the large block of fight or
2) To fight your way through the fight
Many routes seem to have gone (pretty quickly) through the fight area. Was this because previous competitors had demolished a path through, or did early competitors also discover an easy route through?
