Interland 2006 is 25th - 26th February in Munster, Germany

How long has this date been known about, please? I still cannot find any trace of it anywhere on the net, nor in any EOC announcement? Having travelled to selection races, and been told it's in March sometime, this couldn't be a worse weekend if tried (last weekend of half term).

that is a bit odd because in the original announcement it said

Junior Selection Policy for Interland 2006 Selection for the proposed International with Belgium, Germany, Holland etc (Interland 2006) to be held in March 2006 near Cologne, Germany will be based on the following events;

I Googled Interland and got this link to BOF fixtures. Due to draconian internet policy at work I cannot actually look at it (it is deemed to be "personal pages")

Yes I can see that in the major fixtures as well but it even says March, cologne in th senior selection policy

I can see it could prove tricky for people who have gone for selection but thought they were safe to book a half term ski holiday (perhaps like guest above).

I had a quick look on the german website but it doesn't seem to mention it at all - perhaps they don't know they're hosting it

I was advised by EOC of the above dates on 20th November and asked to add it to the Major Events List. While I accept it is not a BOF event, it is a means of providing visibility to the BOF community.

When the junior selectors gave out the list of selection races (way back in the summer so as to give plenty of warning for the autumn races!)a March date had been suggested but as Interland happens when the host region decides on using a suitable 'regional' event the date can and does change. In the past it has clashed with major events over here such as FCC, tour selection or National events - it doesn't this year but apparently may clash with half term, MDOC regional event, trips to Portugal or anything else!

I was advised by EOC of the above dates on 20th November and asked to add it to the Major Events List. While I accept it is not a BOF event, it is a means of providing visibility to the BOF community.

Unfortunately it doesn't register when doing a search on the BOF website, so visibility is reduced. If it has been available since November, I'm extremely disappointed that it doesn't appear anywhere on EOC notices, with the onlyh apparent notice being tucked away in a fairly obscure part of the BOF site unindexed (not that I'm criticising BOF, who after all are not responsible for England events). I notice that the EOC still haven't told us the date, in spite of knowing for over a month.

From a quick scan of posts on this topic it would appear a few people are about miffed about not knowing the date of this event, as some people already have commitments which they can't get out of.

This, however, is the reason for all the reserves selected (which someone else asked the reason for). There are always people who can't make the race, and the eventual team is never the same as the original one picked (i believe i was about the 20th M21 to be asked a couple of years ago).

If you are good enough to be selected, then you will obviously get the opportunity again to run for your country - so go on those pre-booked holidays, pre-exam hoo-hahs or wild nights out which you've already planned.

I cant believe the selectors for Interland couldn't get their act together and produce the combined team list together. Surely they must have seen enough of the junior and senior potential team members results to make their selections by now.

It all looks very unprofessional and wishy washy to me, come on England Selectors get your act together.

Certainly some amusement in our household to see that I was 9th reserve for M40/M45! Anyone know if "Kind Hearts and Coronets" is on TV over Christmas - a potentially inspiring film.

What amuses me more is how many people Neil must already have done away with to make it to 9th on the list.

I agree with supersaint, take the holiday - but perhaps in retrospect it would have been better if the EOC had not mentioned any date in their initial announcements if they were not sure. Going for selection in itself often requires a lot extra travelling and expense - at least then people would have to decide for themselves whether it was worth balancing the factor of unavailability into that particular equation.

If you really want to represent your country and are dedicated and passionate about doing so you will;
1. attend the selection races, at whatever the cost and disruption to your Sunday dinner.
2. Make sure that you keep the window during which the event may be held free from pre-booked holidays.

If a National or other such event crops up then you need to make the personal decision as to where your priorities lie, especially if the event is also a selection race for one of your higher priorities.

Don't come on here whinging about uninsurable losses - you knew the stakes when you booked the holiday.

Seems to me that above was actually an accurate assessment of the situation afterall
