Urban sprint or shorter terrain races. It's the adrenaline of racing through streets that matters the most. Having to make quick and difficult route choices, and to have the skill to run through confined (crowded) streets at speed is really cool. But I like longer legs through forest as well.

prefer proper classic races as they're a true test of stamina and navigational ability. then sprint races that require constant navigation, followed by mtbo, middle races then night - i just can't do it.
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.

Its got to be Middle followed by Night

btw does anyone know why such an established format as Night-O doesn't appear at WOC when it appears that all kinds of whipper-snapper are having a go at getting in these days

Night O certainly - not least because although I run much slower than most, I can stand around in bewildered despair at the same speed as any of you.
(And haven't I been telling you this for months?

You can get the best of all worlds at next Sunday's Esher Ranking Event! Most courses start with the traditional Badge course but end with a Sprint section on a 1:4000 Sprint map.
The M/W21L (OK Nuts Trophy) courses don't have the "Sprint finish" but have a full Micr-O section in the middle on a 1:5000 map. As an added bonus, we'll be awarding "King and Queen of the Micr-O" prizes to those with fastest splits on the Micr-O section and the Micr-O times will be published separately too.
Entries have closed but we've printed plenty of extra maps for EOD competitors.

Surprising number of people who claim to enjoy Night-O. If that's the case, why do we never get many people turning up whenever we put on a night event?!
My personal preference is for races of about an hour (in between middle and classic?).
