Yet there were awards for up to 5 places on junior B courses the day before? Erm...hello? Oh sorry, it's me that has to sort it out now!
Anyone else think that is slightly off?

blimey - I'm glad we didn't hang around then after Fazza, Tess and Neville's surprise 2nd place in the M18
thought it was an excellent event - you just can't legislate for a storm like sunday's - in london they were running in glorious sunshine!
Lovely day Saturday - trip round the Eden project and lovely run on a great course in sunshine. My calf muscle gave out on the run in - I blame Pooley for making me try too hard
I can't walk today and my leg looks like a turnip
Now where did i put that pot of clotted cream?
Oh Becks - the real problem with those 5th places is that no-one knew that was going to happen so most of the kids weren't there - (It said 1,2,3 in brochure)

I may be slightly biased here, but yes, could not understand why only the winning team were given awards. This was the British Relay Championships after all and I would have expected Gold Silver and Bronze places to be recognised.
From possibly a more rational? viewpoint. If some classes have low entry numbers does the award of medals to the first three teams then become unrealistic. Should a sliding scale be set, winners only for less than say 10 teams, winners and runners up, for up to 15 teams, 1st three places for over 15 teams. This could cause problems for the organisers in arranging the correct number of medals to provide as relay team declarations tend to be last minute, but I am sure the cost of a few medals left over would not be too great.

Agree that there were perhaps too many prizes for the individual day with the top five (for both junior A and B) given prizes. Top 3 A/L and winner B/S is more usual - with top 5/6 for E.

I agree with you Becks. The youngsters should get as much encouragement as possible.
My 'rational view' was just a suggestion for debate.

I think that at the British Champs Relays they really need to cut down on the number of classes. There were relays for every age group from 35-50 in both M and W. I know i don't run in them, but surely we don't need them. Considering how little difference there was in leg lengths between differing relays i'm sure we could have done away with at least the 35's and 45's, if not more. OK, so you're club might be able to win an age class, but would it really mean that much if you win by a ridiculous margin over a handful of other teams. Not meaning to be disrespectful to those teams on this relay, but the W35 relay had just 3 teams, with the 3rd placed team finishing 80mins behind the winners. Do they really deserve a prize (i know there weren't any, but in normal circumstances i'm sure they would have) for finishing that far behind?
On a different note, congratulations to Matt Crane for an absolutely outstanding run on the relay, world class performance i must say. Totally blew the field away giving OJ a comfortable lead.

Sounds like what you're asking for is the Scottish Relays...
Hope you're coming.

Though my son's not too impressed that by running orange on Saturday Matt denied him any winning splits on course 15!

Fazza and Tess went to the presentation to get their clotted cream and photo of Penhale, Fazza was really disappointed
he would have loved the cream
but also wanted a picture of Penhale. I can't remember in the past but I'm sure the 2nd and 3rd places have had something. Often in relays this includes juniors that don't win the majors so is more important surely to encourage.
