The secret I think seems to be finding a place that has all the specialists under one roof. My trouble is I think I have too many disparate people involved who cant communicate
Also everytime I have an appointment in Birmingham Orthopefkdsfkfadfdah (cant spell that) Hospital I see a different Registrar.

The cost of course is dependent on the type of operation or treatment you receive. An initial meeting with the doc may cost up to £40 I guess.

I just had an operation on my foot at a private clinic here in Gothenburg. Ther doctor here is the worlds leading expert on knee injuries, and chief medical man for FIFA (World Soccer). I paid £25 to see doctor, and £1100 for my foot operation. The operation was to remove a bone spur/ + damaged tissue in my ankle joint that has stopped me orienteering for nearly 2 years, and it took around half-hour actually in the operation. So as a very rough guide maybe reckon with 1000 quid for every half hour of your op i guess.......

A key to getting good results is to be persistent. You gotta keep ringing these doctors, and keep the pressure on them until you get a reply. Its worth going to the best doctor. Good luck

Murray > Thats the idea! Its still gonna be 4 months before i can run in a forest again but hopefully I can run a few races next summer. Im training hard now, in the gym everyday. Never gonna race so much again, dont have time, but it'd be fun to run fast in a few races every year.

Whats about you? Maybe 2005 will be the year you make the big step up, take the chance you've got the ability matey....

Update for anybody daft enough to be interested.
Had MRI scan last week, got the results last night and saw Prof Rolf

Not great news.
Apparently I’ve had a stress fracture of a sesamoid in the right foot all along (not great for pumping cortisone injections into, like Ive had done 4 times!! )
It has never healed and has ‘died’ ie no marrow inside
I need an Op to remove the 'dead' sesamoid which hopefully should relieve the pain. However the tendon running through the sesamoids is now basically shagged (thickened and tendonosis) .

The tendon might repair itself once its been cut into during the operation (apparently they do it to race horses all the time, but Prof Rolf can give no guarantees.

Seems the left foot is coming out in sympathy as it is taking much of the load off of the right and causing inflammation there though nothing wrong showing on MRI.

Op is ££££££££££££££££ + 3 weeks on crutches. Hopefully next Thursday

Be very very careful with your feet, particularly with orthotics…..
