Clevedon.
Well, OK, it doesn't actually exist, but I was there yesterday and I reckon it should!

Re: Urban Races 2014
WAOC are laying on an event in Ely on 5th April. This will be the first time an urban event has been held here, and will use a brand new map of a historic Cathedral town which will feature the cathedral precinct and (surprisingly for East Anglia) some contours.

There'll probably be more races organised by UBOC in the middle of Bristol around the Floating Harbour...

Re: Urban Races 2014
Edinburgh University OC have just opened entries for the traditional start to the Urban Series although status not yet confirmed or 2014.
EUOC would like to welcome you back to Edinburgh for the annual Big Weekend, held on the 25th and 26th January 2014, promising to give a new racing experience in Edinburgh’s historic centre. Saturday will see the city race around the historic streets of Edinburgh, followed by a ceilidh in the evening. Sunday will see a classic orienteering event in the scenic Holyrood Park. Saturday’s event will be planned to avoid the area of Edinburgh that has been embargoed for Race the Castles 2014.

13th July - Otley (near Leeds)
It was a classic on its debut 4 years ago. Should be equally good on its second outing.

Re: Urban Races 2014
Have just seen the nearly completed map for Glasgow 11/5/2014, STAG's pre-Commonwealth Games. This is a new map of the city centre, and I can honestly say I havent looked forward to running on a new map more since London. This is a SOUL event for 2014 but if it isnt also a NOPE event I'll eat my Queen of the South woolly hat!

I believe SOS are planning an event for Colchester in Nov 2014 - Britain's oldest town. Should be a cracking location for an urban race.

I guess it depends on the organisers. e.g. We were in France last year, and cycled into town one morning to find lots of activity...
"Hello nice Frenchperson, what's going on?"
"We are 'aving a triathlon race"
"Ah, can we join in?"
"You will need a medical certificate signed by a medical doctor"
"Oh dear, we just popped out for some milk and didn't think to bring one"
"Ah well, I see this boy is wearing a "Scotland Orienteering" T-shirt, you are proper sportspersons? Yes?"
"Oh, er, yes, oui, absolutement"
"No problem!"
Jolly nice it was too, until james got lost on the run
