Re: Club Competitions Finals (CSC/CST)
Impressive report and coverage of the CSC/CST on the British Orienteering Website and FaceBook pages.
Oh, sorry, I'm wrong there isn't anything! How crap is that.
I thought it was now the British Club Championships. Nobody at Head Office paying attention to what the members are up to, as usual.

Absolutely not.
BOF disowned it and removed the rules from their web site a couple of years ago.

Close as I recall but in fact I thought BOF tried to high-jack it from Compassport without speaking to Nick and then when this was pointed out to them they removed the guidelines from their website.
Note I think the high jacking (for want of a better word) was not entirely intentional but they had not thought it through or talked to Compasssport before renaming it.
Ravinous may know the whole story
hop fat boy, hop!

The social media team is staffed by volunteers. There are many, many more constructive ways of passing us feedback than a sarcastic rant on Nopesport. If you want us to cover something and it looks like we've missed it, please send us an email. Or a Facebook message. Or a tweet. Or a post on our timeline. Or a direct message. Or phone the office and ask them to pass it on. Better still, we could use another volunteer or two...interested?

Actually David I've just mentioned British Orienteering in a Facebook post promoting the Cramlington Urban Race- do me a favour and pass it along the line. (and expect tweets nearer the day)
On the volunteer front get the relevant person to pm or email me .....

Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

I suppose I was really aiming that comment at the BO website. However, I do think it would be useful if the group of social media volunteers had some kind of plan to cover and promote the important events.
I don't fully understand FaceBook, so wouldn't be a great person to volunteer. I have enough trouble remembering to keep the one page that I own/run up to date.
My apologies about calling it the British Club Champs. Is that why BO didn't cover it?

Re: Club Competitions Finals (CSC/CST)
Appreciate you coming out with guns blazing Daffdy.
But on this one, quite a few members were not at all impressed by how the "issue" was handled at Head Office. Head Office should know the CSC Final happened, and a positive, unprompted, report on the BOF website would have been a perfect way of building a few bridges to the membership.
Opportunity missed, and is in danger of giving the impression that Head Office would quite like this competition to go away in order to improve commercial sponsorship opportunities.I suspect not what the membership would wish.

Well I don't really want to get into a Nopesport flame war - I had my blazing guns set to stun, or so I thought.
I'd just like to make it clear that feedback is listened to and highly likely to be acted upon - so there's no real need for the first action to be a sarcastic rant on Nope.

This issue just shows how fecking cr*p BOF are!!! Of course the CSC shouldn't need someone to remind BOF that it's happening. And the directors shouldn't need to waste their time defending a totally cr*p organisation.
And even if it is staffed by volunteers that is no excuse,,, to come onto social media pleading 'we can't do it & you shouldn't moan' is the biggest load of bullsh*t I've ever heard.... the directors are letting the sport down.... resign !!!!!!
No directors... no BOF... then we can start again without all the non orienteers

Along with this post I am so pissed off I'm going to quit as a controlle & IOF Advisor///
Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)

But this has nothing to do with whether BOF office knew the event was happening. There was no report on the website because nobody who was at the event wrote one and submitted it! Had they done so, it would have been published, because quite clearly the CompassSport Cup and Trophy is a significant event that the BOF membership would like to hear about.

Re: Club Competitions Finals (CSC/CST)
Dont you you hate it when people refer to "they" when really what they should be saying is "we"?
Gross - I'm sure youve put a lot of work into orienteering in the past, but your snide comments on the SOA facebook page undermining my efforts to establish the 3 charitable patrons for Scottish Orienteering were unhelpful and dispiriting, as well as potentially offensive to one of the individuals concerned. When volunteers put in hours and hours of work each month and this is what they get back, they just end up resigning and then you have (as you seem to want) nothing. Cheerio.

Not as much as when people say "we" when they should be saying "I" but actually mean "you".

There are in fact no reports from any club events published this year. So I'm sure I'm not alone in assuming that unsolicited material isn't published. Am I wrong?
