I think it would be good if this League really were a serious and prestigious competition.
However, I also think that if the list of most important UK events doesn't include all the "Level A" events, then either the list isn't serious or Level A isn't serious.

This is the key point where priorities need to be sorted. Senior Competitions Group (deceased) were firm that all level As should be in the Masters Cup. But with UKOL, Northerns is in - Scottish, Midlands and Southerns aren't. Also 2 of the UKOL races (SinS) are same weekend as a level A (Scottish), and so also clash with a UK Relay League (if that still exists). For credibility we need to know which races are important.

I think it's because, aside from the British, whoever decided on the 'strategy' wanted only double-header weekends. Which means that some prestigious events (e.g. Scottish Champs) are left out, whilst some 'fun' events replace them. A real pity, and to my mind very wrong-headed thinking.

The St Ives Urban event plus the Southern Championships at Penhale would have made an excellent double-header, and the Scottish Champs + Relays should qualify for the same reason that the British + Relays is in there.
Any idea what the process is for deciding next year's Orienteering League Races ?
It would be nice to see all the Level A events back in there again, with a suitable event paired with them to make a weekend of it. With almost a year to go it should be possible to make them double headers, and in terms of entry numbers it must surely be of benefit for the clubs staging the events to do this.

The British is the only one off on the list - the Relays, not surprisingly, don't count. Thust, I don't think the Scottish + Relays would count as a double-header!
But I do agree with you, that it should be quite possible to make them so - and having the championship weekends as the main double headers makes sense, otherwise I think that we could be moving to a surfeit of top end events.

If there was an extra event (like last years middle) on the monday, surely the scottish champs would be a more attractive double header.
Also find it bizarre that the nights can count for this but not the rankings.
