Re: BOC 2012
What's the problem? There's still plenty of time till the fee goes up even in the worst case scenario. Oh, unless both dates are wrong and the massive increase in fees is happening on the 21st Jan. Or the 11th.

Sorry to hijack thread but can anyone tell me the closing date for Malvern urban? Have read all bits and links to site but can't find any?

Whoops - I knew I'd said i'd amend the flier and then couldn't remember why.
Its Feb 29th and there is no unseemly hike in the entry fee.

I suspect because the text you quote is hidden, and only shows when you click the link to "Show details".

Re: BOC 2012
Whilst appreciating the organiser is busy would it be possible to know a couple of details or estimations about transfers to assembly etc.
How long is it estimated that transfer from car park to assembly field will take?
Is it yet know how far the starts are from assembly?
Sorry if this seems a bit detailed but my belief is that a lot of people are going to be asking for late/very late starts. There are only so many slots available.
Working out what the latest time we can get to the car park (and therefore leave home at some unearthly hour) and then transfer to assembly field and walk to the start, will influence whether we decide to enter or not.
And I'd like to make that decision before prices go up!!

Urban...Full timings not complete yet, actual bus time is about 20-30 mins, there is a 5-10 min walk to bus assembly but you will need to be there 15 mins before alloted bus time to be checked in. At the Eskdale end it's a two min walk to assembly and about 30 mins to the start.

Re: BOC 2012
So as well as Dog owners, who have to make alternative arrangements; Competitors staying in Eskdale also have to make their own way to assembly - and still have to pay the £4 bus fare, as it is in with the entry? Surely these shouldnt have to pay this. Wouldnt it be farer just to pay on getting on the bus?
What about spectators / accompanying persons, who havent paid the entry fee, so use the bus for free?
Can we have the location of assembly, so we know if we can get from our accommodation / campsite to the assembly by walking / bike? as it may be too far, so would either have to drive back along eskdale to get the bus, which we arent supposed to do, or park somewhere in eskdale close to assembly?
I assume no helpers or 'unnecessary' people will be parked at assembly; or that when I get there I assume there will be all available space taken up?

Re: BOC 2012
'youngladdie' you can be assured that strict control will be kept on who is allowed to park their car in the Assembly Field.
As for the element of the event entry fee assigned to travel andparking costs that is fixed and no refunds can be given for those staying in the Eskdale valley or potentially travelling by the Ratty. The event has a budget that has to be agreed between the Association and BO and is put together on a number of anticipated factors from previous BOC this then dictates the entry fee. We do not know how many dog owners would choose to travel by the Ratty (if confirmed acceptable) or how many people would stay in the valley therefore our budget cannot be altered to allow for this from reduced bus travel numbers.

The partnership agreement is not that inflexible. If you felt it would be good PR to offer discounts to those camping in the valley and then walking/cycling to the event you could.

Re: BOC 2012
You mean the bus company is charging the same fee whether you ask them to provide 5 buses or 50?

Re: BOC 2012
Ok so I've entered but a couple things confused me.....
1. Why is my entry not on the si list of entries (all courses are set to 0 competitors) depite getting an email from sientries confirming my entry?
2. The £4 entry bit for the bus etc. only seems to apply to those pre-entering. What about my wife & 2 kids. Do they get on the bus for free as they are doing CC/string and that is EOD?? Didn't see anywhere to add them on.

I think there may be a small bug in the sientries website. I also get 0 competitors on all courses if I click on "entry list", but if I then use the search box I can find my own entry (and others').

To quote the BOC2012 website:
"The cost of the necessary parking and bus transport to the assembly area at Dalegarth is included in your entry fee at £4 per person"
Surely this means that if you are parking in the 'official' car park, And using the bus then you have paid the £4 fee that is for this with your entry fee - but surely if you arent parking there, or using the bus you shouldnt have to pay - otherwise you would be paying for a service you are not getting, and competitors staying in the valley/walking/cycling are penalised.
And as Forest Gump pointed out - what about string course competitors; entry on day colour coded and spectators, who dont pre-enter - do they pay on the bus, or get a free ride?
And another thing - if part of the £4 is is allocated to parking - then surely this should be PER CAR and NOT per person?
