Possibly should be a new thread, but relevant to those of an older persuasion :

I've just broken my third Silva magnifier in a year ( I fall over a lot). It's just the perspex bracket that goes, but at twenty plus quid I'm not inclined (except when I fall over ) to invest in yet another. Any suggestions?

Ian at Ultrasport sells little sprays of stuff to keep your glasses clear of mist and encourage the rain to run off - Mr H swears by it -can't remember what it's called but Ian will know what you mean.

i just put in one contact lens for reading the map. the other eye is used for distance. works well

re magnifier, i have given up after breaking a few when falling over. perhaps i should just have a separate magnifier.

Noticed a member of our club had attached his broken off lens to his SI Card cord (didn't see how ) . He said as he only uses it occaisionally it works for him and as its not set at a fixed distance its potentially more flexible. I might try this as i have a collection of broken off lenses.

I tried that for a while. It was fine when stationary, or nearly so, but the use of two hands inhibited running action when the magnifier was required on the move.

I'm going to investigate making my own bracket. Has anyone contacted Silva about buying the bracket without the lens?
