Still waiting for our membership cards and CompassSport, which was apparently posted on December 15th, and several parcels ordered at the beginning of December...

Our CompassSport arrived yesterday, but no membership card yet. If you renew online you get a confirmation email from BOF, so I have no doubt the card will arrive in the new year.

Similar story here - I got CompassSport a while ago (before Christmas in fact), still no membership card - and if you pay by direct debit, you don't get any confirmation beyond your bank statement that the payment was made. Given that the payment was taken in November, surely that gave enough time to get the cards issued well before the pre-Christmas bad weather caused problems.

We've received a letter saying we haven't renewed, but we also have a copy of our direct debit agreement signed last year!!

I just checked my confirmation e-mail sent on 4th November - it says
'Thank you for renewing your membership with British Orienteering. Your new membership card will be distributed from the National Office within one week.'
I still haven't received my cards yet - funny sort of week!

On another matter, one of my club members has asked my how to access membership renewal from the new BOF website. I had a look and couldn't find it - but is that just because I have already renewed so it isn't an option for me? Any ideas.

I think all you need to do is log-in. That should normally take you to your my Account page.

If you have not renewed I believe from memory you get a different screen telling you it's time you renewed. So, by a process of elimination, if you get straight to the my Account screen you have renewed.

Sadly the one thing the my Account screen does not tell you is when, or if, you renewed. You may however take the chance to amend your password to something you might stand a better chance of remembering.

I've just renewed online... login name was your bof number and the original password supplied by bof... unless you've changed it.

I also looked at the info held which is a bit out of date... i.e. hasn't updated the expiry date of my IOF EA status yet...

I'm not bothered about the bof card as I'm also a member of another IOF federation and therefore entitled to the exemption from the £2 surcharge

Membership cards still not here. Compass Sport still not arrived. At least I know the cheque arrived as Morgan Membership card has arrived!

This debate suggests you guys have to display your cards at registration.

I'm surprised. My card has never had to leave my wallet once!

If I take my card to registration, no-one wants to see it. If I don't take it, it is asked for!

I took my new card yesterday and no, I didn't need it!

Our cards still haven't arrived.
We went to a New Year Score event for which the Final Details specified "make sure you bring your 2011 BOF membership card", so I took our 2010 cards and a bank statement showing the direct debit taken at the end of November; happily, no-one asked for our cards.
Mostly we don't get asked to show cards. There are just one or two clubs which ask to see them, and those clubs (or individuals) can be quite pernickety about it (like the more aggressive type of ticket-collector). We've learnt when to make sure we have them with us at registration in order to avoid being sent back to the car park for them.

Another thread mentioned the BOF Membership Database. If the organisers had this on the computers handling entries (downloaded a day or two before the event), then all you'd have to do is to quote your membership number - much easier!

If you had a previous login and your BOF number has subsequently changed, how can you login? There isn't any kind of 'reset your password' option.

Isn't it possible to do that already? I certainly thought you could do it in OE2003, but it's a while since I've been on entry-desk duty so I could be wrong.

Have you tried your old login? If that doesn't work, I don't think there is any way to reset your password yourself. Probably best to email the office.

My membership arrived in the post this morning so obviously the post office are still catching up after the Snow and the Christmas period.

No need to be concerned Leanne if yours (and the crews) doesn't arrive before next Sunday's Knettishall event. I think we know you well enought to recognise you as BOF members.

What I did confirm is that the address printed on the envelope from BOF is shorter that the address they used when they issued the renewal invitation form. The last line of the address is either not printing or has been lost when the data was switched across to the new data base.

I spotted this before Christmas when I was checking out the new web site and reported it to Mike H. I am not sure if the bug is fixable. Just in case it is not, I logged in and updated my membership adddress to add back the part of my address that appeared to have been lost.

This newly completed address was not printed on the mailing received this morning. I guess though the mailing was prepared some time ago before I updated the record.

Incomplete addresses sometime cause postal sorting delays. Might be worth checking your BOF address records to ensure they still hold a deliverable address.

This probably explains why I had a cheque from BOF that took a month to arrive because it had missed out Cardiff on the address. Think it had been to all the Penylans in Wales despite having the correct post code.
