Re: UK Cup
I thought the inclusion of MTBO was a good thing, as it exposed some people to a form of the sport they perhaps hadn't tried before. And on the same lines, how about Ski-O
which would have been fine earlier this year during the big freeze.

Not sure why you blame Homer

For the tiny handful of vets who still have your elite mentalility, Homer seems to support a series of elite quality races in spring. Concentrating on getting one mens and one women's course spot on and having everyone compete on it, rather than compromise and dilute everything over 30 courses. Maybe vary the formats if some long races are too long for all? All it would need is a snappy title: perhaps a word covering its National nature, and another indicative of competition. Any ideas

Coming soon

Re: UK Cup
The MTBO in the UK Cup was fairly controversial but I remember making sure I went to the event as I felt I would have a far better chance of getting some points there than a standard event. I would be even keener now as I do far more biking than running.
The other event that got included in the UK cup a number of times was the British night champs. This I think was a very good thing as it improved the quality of the field considerably and I think helped get more people out to night events in general in the lead up to the event.

A racing season should be just that - a "season" not an extended 9 or 10 months of slogging round the country, race after race after race. A season should also have a peak - perhaps the British Champs?
Fair enough. If I lived where you do, maybe I'd feel the same.
However from this I also assume you'd not be interested in the UK Cup (or even the World Cup) both of which involve slogging around the country (or world) over an extended period of time.
I note the UK Cup is to have a Final in October. This will no doubt split opinion on whether the 'peak' of the season should remain in the spring...
I think a Master Cup Final in October would be an excellent idea.

"Not sure why you blame Homer . Most orienteers do want good races year round, that's what this "Masters" cup is meant to provide. Why wouldn't you let them have it?"
I'm not stopping anyone having any competition they want - I was replying to Homer's question about my attendance at the proposed league. No blame and certainly no stopping of any competition.
