Thanks to everyone for being understanding with regards to the postponement.
I'd like to reinforce that the Local event at Hawkbatch this weekend is also cancelled. This is so that we can re-schedule the event with minimal extra planning in the Spring.

Re: Yvette Baker Final
Hard luck Rachel, I'm sure it was the right decision.
I have wondered in the past why the YBT is timed when it is. I must admit there have been times when I have been quite relieved when our juniors didn't qualify for the final and I was spared some pre-Christmas complications.
Is there any reason why the rounds can not be held in the spring and the final in the autumn a la CSC?

Re: Yvette Baker Final
What will happen with respect to age class.
There are 18's helpig to quaify who after Xmas will not be permitted to run and 14's etc who will be in older age classes.
Will the final be run against 2010 age classes, seems appropriate since it is the 2010 YBT or will it be run against 2011 classes.
Since the entries have already been received and computed I guess it could be run as is?

I agree - it would be a bit unfair to go with the new 2011 age classes - there may be some clubs who would no longer be able to field a complete team. If it is only a couple of months later some kids are unlikely to have improved sufficiently to run the next course up.
I also think it might be better to have qualifiers earlier in the year with a final in the autumn.

Re: Yvette Baker Final
We are talking about the 2010 final. It was planned for Dec 2010 and run with juniors based on 2010 age classes. Clubs have reached the final using these age classes. The postponement should make no difference. All the juniors will be 1 or 2 months older and will all have had a chance to improve. All the teams in the final are affected in the same way.
Why would you start to use 2011 age classes? This could affect some of the teams, making the work for the team coaches and event organiser very difficult. 2011 age classes will be used for the 2011 competition with a final in Dec 2011.

The reasons were twofold. Firstly, the YBT started off as a one-off match, which we held in the autumn. When it became a set of regional matches, they stayed in the autumn, and the final was held a few weeks later in early December.
The second was that when looking at dates, no others were available - the fixtures list was too congested, and YBT wasn't given the same priority as other races which had got in earler.
I agree - early December has never been a good time for this final, and a move to more sensible dates would be good.
On the use of age classes - anything other than using 2010 age classes would be silly, but I'm sure nobody is contemplating anything other different.

Re: Yvette Baker Final
But presumably clubs will be allowed to change their teams to add people who become available at the new date and replace those who have to drop out because of other commitments?

This is going to be the problem when trying to reschedule.
I very much doubt a spring date can be found that will satisfy everyone. I think we'd have a better chance rescheduling in January (or even before Christmas).

The YBTF has been re-scheduled for the 6th February 2011 at Hawkbatch Woods. Competitors will run in age groups that were valid as of December 6th 2010.

By some complex rule it was decided that TVOC should go through to the YBT final to represent SCOA.
