Entries are now open for next year's JK in South Wales. See http://www.thejk.org.uk/jk2014/ for the event website and details of how to enter.
Many of the "team" who brought you last year's very successful Croeso 2012 are involved again and promise you some of the most technical areas in Southern Britain.
A programme of supporting events is taking place in the week beforehand, so why not come early and explore the beauty of South Wales as well?

Re: JK 2014
Just had an e-mail from YHA to inform me our family booking at Brecon youth hostel for the JK weekend has been cancelled as the hostel has been sold. Wondering if this affects anyone else and what other budget accomodation might be available at this stage.

1,800 entries at first closing date - does anyone know if that's high or low?
Should be a great JK. Particularly looking forward to Kris' sprint courses!

I've had the same email. Very unimpressed! Fortunately Travelodge still have rooms available in the Cardiff area.

High - above all the numbers for the last five years at the first cut-off stage and I haven't seen figures for before that.

Well it promises to be one of the best JKs. Could be interesting if the weather is wild though

Re: JK 2014
There's been a steady stream of enquiries asking about course lengths, especially for Days 2 and 3, so provisional details have now been published on the JK website at http://www.thejk.org.uk/jk2014/index.php?pg=244

From the BOF website:
2227 entries today. Another hundred by the 16th and this will be the largest number at this stage for at least the last five years!
http://www.thejk.org.uk/2014
2200 entries so far and we want to see more, so why not enter the JK before fees go up on 16th Feb, http://www.sientries.co.uk. Please allow 5 working days after renewing British Orienteering membership for this to be updated in the online entries database

Re: JK 2014
From the JK 2014 website:-
http://www.thejk.org.uk/2014
The second "saver" entry fee date passed yesterday at midnight and a late flurry of entries has now raised the competitor total to 2589. If the pattern of previous years is repeated, then over 3000 competitors are expected in the final total - a recent record.
Some figures: 2080 entries to date are from the UK, meaning that 509 are from overseas, around 150 more than in previous years. The largest contingents are from Norway (125), Ireland (98) and Sweden (83).
So far, there are 1990 entries for the Sprint race. If numbers continue to rise, Swansea University could well host the largest Sprint race ever in the UK (there were 2020 starters in last year's JK Sprint, the current largest).

Re: JK 2014
Any groups still looking for JK accommodation might be interested in "good quality budget group accommodation for up to 250 persons in log cabin and bunkhouse accommodation (both catered and self catering stays)."
The accommodation is well-placed in the Port Talbot area and more details can be found at http://www.thejk.org.uk/2014
