JK2012 Entries Open
Pleased to say SIEntries is now up and running for JK2012. In addition to the orienteering there is also a fantastic social programme - having just spent the last 3 days in Pitlochry I can certainly vouch for the quality of the water of life. Thanks go to all those involved in getting things up and running at this stage.

Freefall,
There is a problem with the e-mail address links to the Entries Sec -- both links give
Failure notices (instantly)
There is no indication of how to do a postal entry on the entry page of the website --
some sort of ommission I assume
Oops -- just spotted it right at the bottom of the page, hope the form will be available before the first closing date

Apologies, the email address had to be changed and I entered it incorrectly.
I was having problems with the new address, but the address to use is:
jk2012entries@scottish-orienteering.org

Re: JK2012 Entries Open
Bit surprised when reading web page to see that IOF affiliated clubs get junior rates, or have I misunderstood it? Could be a mass application to foreign clubs for membership
Also surprised about parking which penalises people being green and travelling together, also families. Not sure without a lot of thought what the alternative could be without causing increased workload.
Glad I read Nopesport or else I would just have done my usual Xmas job and done entries to JK, BOC etc and missed first closing date.

Re: JK2012 Entries Open
I didn't write the text for the entry info, just published it.
But I suspect that the BOF/IOF bit against junior/students is irrelevant and not required, but will investigate.
It's all part of the complicated membership structure we have and discounts/surcharges for non members. How do you word it so everyone understands the cost, especially foreign entrants.
The parking situation comes about due to the normal practice of the Scottish 6 Days not to charge extra for parking, and most of the organising team have just come for the 6 Days.
It saves a lot of workload in organising/distributing/checking permits and improves the traffic flow entering car park fields.

A bit hidden, but notice also that the Training Event is back.
We offer an opportunity for training on two areas mapped by JK mappers and representative of the main competition areas. Dedridge is a sprint area typical of
Livingston housing estates, and Calder Wood is a remarkable area of natural woodland protected from development by two steep-sided gorges.
Both training areas are within easy jogging/walking distance of assembly for the sprint day at Livingston, and controls will be in place from Thursday through Friday. Top quality courses will be planned by the international athletes of the Scottish Elite Development Squad.

Will course lengths & old maps be available online in due course? (Ideally before the first entry deadline...)

Re: JK2012 Entries Open
The first entry deadline does seem to be unusually early - is there a reason why. I must admit I alsways enjoy discussing who is going to do what when we all get together at Christmas.

We are so well organised (I hope) that we could get it done like this.

Areas are adjacent - easy to do both - and both maps are on the same piece of paper.
