Well done to those who put it forward and also managed to get Anekas support.

Re: Radio 2 Chris Evans
yes well done
. Any idea on time and date?
Nothing to do with me BTW. I recently emailed Caroline Povey and she said someone had submitted an application a while back, but the show had said no. Maybe they changed their minds or a new application was successful?

Yes, this sounds positive. Does anybody know who/where the idea came from, or who is involved with putting it on? Given their choice of "famous orienteer" I have to admit I'm a little worried about how much resemblance it will bear to the modern sport

I remember Aneka Rice running with Steve Cram at the October Odyssey event in 1983, I think! I recall them doing a yellow or orange style course and taking a long time so I hope she has been practising

I'd rather be orienteering in a Scottish Forest.

I remember her at that event appearing genuinely excited by her result. She turned to Andrew Suddaby and asked how she's done. Andrew, I believe in total ignorance as to who she was, said all the right things.

BOF Website wrote:As Radio 2 listeners will be aware, the next Chris Evans Sporting Challenge will be orienteering. The challenge between Chris and his colleague Jonny Saunders will be filmed next week and the pair will be accompanied by Anneka Rice.
The orienteering challenge is being organised by BAOC, with support from SLOW and is being led by Army Team Captain, Major Lucy Giles with Dave Rollins acting as the coach.
Ah, that's reassuring. I was a little worried that it might be a rucksacks and OS map affair, but looking at who is involved it should be excellent publicity for the sport

In a random moment I googled Chris Evans Orienteering and found this.

Apart from finding a forum that made even less sense than Nopesport, does this mean it happened yesterday?

I went to Shrivenham yesterday - no sign of Chris Evans, but I did enjoy the experience!

Re: Radio 2 Chris Evans
Yes - it all happened yesterday in Battersea Park
We couldn't announce that beforehand in case loads turned up to watch.
I also gather that those there are sworn to secrecy as to the outcome
(not me - I was working and merely provider of the OCAD file in this one)
Anyway - having noticed there's no announcement on the BOF site - I understand all will be revealed tomorrow morning. Radio 2, and I thinks it's between 8.30 and 9.30

That was fantastic - it looked good fun but challenging and the guys were obviously trying
I wonder if Major Lucy would like to join me in the nopesport karaoke challenge

Excellent.
I'm sure there's a good story behind the story that those involved might want to tell us sometime.
I assume the random walker who helped Jonny was an Orienteer, judging by the way he orientated the map. ?
