Scott Fraser moves to Sweden
Scott Fraser has recently resigned as SOA Professional Officer in favour of a move to Stockholm.
The local club in Sodertalje (Stockholm) have recognised Scott’s recent fine performances at the World Championships, and as a result, Scott will be taking up a psychology consultancy job with the main sponsor of the club - Scania.
Scott has been the SOA Professional Officer for almost two and a half years, during which time he has made a significant impact with Tay 2009 and Oban 2011 and the recent Park World Tour event in Perth.

Yeah - good luck Scotia. I've often felt it must be quite restricting trying to combine the role of Professional Officer with top class elite competition. Can totally understand why you're off to Scandinavia.

I find this quite funny because good at orienteering doesn't mean good at psychology consultancy job. Why not be open about it and say Sodertalje want him and therefore have got their sponsor to give him a salary and a cushy job to allow him time/recources for training?

Nothing to take away from his sports performaces, they are great and good luck nonetheless.

Well no, but having an MSc in psychology tends to help.
Being good at orienteering doesn't mean being good at permissions, fundraising and the rest of it. But Scott was very, very good at that too, and will be hard to replace.
As we saw at Scott's last two WOCs, organising the 6-day just beforehand has a big effect, so this move was quite predictable and its good he's given the 6-day company time sort things out.

Scott Fraser has an MSc in Performance Psychology from the University of Edinburgh. So I'd say he is perfectly suited to the job.

Anyone who knows Scott understands why a company would want to employ them. Not only is he able to get the best out of himself, but he is extremely talented about getting the best out of the people he works with. This was made very evident in the highly successful Park World Tour in Perth. Scott lead a team of people who mostly had little experience of the roles the were undertaking. Mainly due to we've rarely seen an event of this quality. He lead that team fantastically and got the best out of everyone.

My Park World Tour experience tells me it'll be hard to find a replacement who can do as good a job as Scott's done, we shall see.
