Croeso 2012

....and while we are on the subject of Croeso, the Olympics and date changes - could i make a heartfelt plea to the organisers (of Croeso - not the Olympics) not to clash dates.

My entire family - and I suspect a good many other orienteers - have registered our intention to volunteer at the Games - i'm sure Croeso would be a good way of avoiding the dreadful anti-climax which will surely ensue once they are over.

The Swiss WOC is timed to avoid the Olympics too (14-22 July 2012).

The other side of the coin is that, if other multiday events in Europe avoid the Olympics period, then a Croeso at the same time might fill a vacuum and attract a good entry! Discuss ...

Whilst, as Mrs H points out, some orienteers will undoubtedly be helping, it also provides a good opportunity to create a great atmosphere at the event.

A large marquee, beer on tap, a large TV screen and the olympics. what more could you want at a holiday event after you have run.

It is also worth noting that the Croeso is only one week and and the Olympics two.

Agree with David though that it is a point that will need to be thought through carefully, along with finding some great areas. Will be difficult to top this year's!!

Plus the olympics are the only two common weeks of school holidays in the UK...

There are never enough weeks' holiday or enough weekends.

My understanding is that the next Croeso will be in North Wales, so this could be a little tricky ...

How about a sprint in Caernarfon and a chasing start at Newborough (Yes I know, the Access Witch has probably hexed it, but I can dream)
