PFO are not having the best of luck organising their Capricorn weekend. Having had to cancel the original Capricorn 2008 when a major landowner withdrew permission, they have suffered another setback that has forced them to cancel the Chasing Sprint, organised as the first day of the Alternative Capricorn, with only two weeks to go.

Due to unfortunate circumstances we are having to cancel day one of this years Alternative Capricorn, on visiting the site for a final planning visit last weekend contractors have unexpectedly turned up and started felling operations in the main/only part of the forest to be used for the sprint event.

They must think that the event is Jinxed this year!

Day Two (20th), a Regional event at Great Tower near Newby Bridge, is still going ahead though. Hopefully, this will be a success and make everything worthwhile. This is the last Regional before the Summer Holiday period, so well worth travelling. We'll certainly be there. Online entry is via Fabian and entries do not close until Thursday 17th July.

The website for the event makes very interesting reading!! No course 1.... for M21L. How did they manage to plan an M21L course in the past????

Course 2 is therefore the premier class.... 8.5km with 770m climb. Are they having a laugh? It will indeed be interesting to see how they manage that!

Yes, looks like a good challenging course to me. Looking forward to it. Maybe for once I'll end up doing LESS climb than advertised on a Lakes course.

As far as I could tell when I entered, I would have been the only M21L anyway. So fair enough they're not putting on a course. Also 770m climb is enough for me thank you - I suppose on 21L it would have been 1000m!

Looking forward to it though. Partly to see whether it is actually possible to have a course with 9% climb, but mostly because it's quite a cracking area.
