In days gone by it used to be the case that multi day events had balanced start times between the days such that an early start time was balanced with a late time the next day (with the exception of those with young children needing splits) now it seems that if you want a late start time both days you just get it.
So is starting late an advantage ?
Is allowing people to run late both days (such as the JK) fair ?

Re: Balance
I think that it is done at the multi day events to ensure fairness. Many of the areas track up during the race so it would be unfair to have late tarts every day. However I know that at the JK you could request late styarts both days, like i've done
, but only because of the distance i'm travelling fron home each day
honest!!

Best to allow at least 2 hours for digestion before running

I think that was a very restrained comment Gnitworp - i was thinking of something much coarser
i asked for two middles and got them - which I felt was balanced - mainly to cover the exigencies of young Neville having to wait for the elite course draw on day 3

Re: Balance
I made no request and the computer has given me first start on my course both days
Fortunately I can change one of my start times to fit with helper's duties, but there doesn't seem to have been any balancing of start times, and it must give a significant advantage to those who have requested and got (or just got by chance) two late starts.

Do I remember something about 'the early bird catches the worm' ?? Perhaps it will be your lucky day.

is that with a 3Km walk/jog to the start on Day 2 as well? If Days 2 and 3 had been reversed, would the elites been given a 3km slog on their Long course?

no idea, parents have the program which I'll read on the flight down on Friday. we're staying close so the above isn't an issue at all, it's more the balance - as the forest can look very different at 10am than it might do at 2pm
thinking about it, it really makes no difference and it'll be an ace weekend anyway! can't wait
