Does anyone know whether this is also supposed to apply to the control circles and the thickness of the lines joining them?
As far as different age groups having different scales are concerned, I'm sure I've been to events where "Course 9" and "Course 10" (say) are actually the same, but with a different map scale - which gets round the problem of people deliberately taking the wrong map. Of course, it doesn't work as well if people know beforehand - so you can't have control descriptions available before the start
