SI punching - beep or light?
Something that the emit thread caused me to think about - how many people actually look for the flashing light to confirm a punch using SI, or are you primarily reliant on the beep?

I never use the light at all, but this doesn't seem to be an option...
I think if there was no beep after I'd tried punching twice I'd probably be reaching for the pin punch, light or no light.
There is no logical justification for this.

I definitely wait for the beep!! I sometimes set off and take a few steps and then realize there wasn't a beep and have to go back and dib propel!!
Am I the only one to do this??

Re: SI punching - beep or light?
I think I am probably aware of both while punching. Our BSF7s all work so well that I tend not to hang about at the unit, but subconsciously make a note of what just happened. Occasionally I punch too quick, and have to return to do it properly. Certainly the beep and flash are pretty much synchronous.

I have, but sometimes have that problem at events where I'm the first to a control and waking it up.
Was very nice having my own v6 at Polaris at the weekend - in events like that it means you don't even need to get the d:bber straight in the hole to record a punch when the unit is at a funny angle (several times had to wait for others struggling to punch, but then had a quick and easy punch myself)! In these circumstances you often can't see the light anyway.

Having partial hearing loss, particularly at high pitched frequencies, the light is a often an essential confirmation -so I always look for it. Sometimes I hear the beep and sometimes not. Never hung around long enough to determine what conditions allow me to hear the beep.
