What's with the watch in the last of those photos? It doesn't look like your average splits watch or heart rate monitor.
Have the JWOC team signed a mega-bucks advertising deal with a watch maker and she's just put in on for the post-race photos - as per the F1 drivers who clumsily throw them on prior to climbing the podium? (Do they really think they'll convince people they've been wearing them whilst driving?!)

Since we moved to electronic timing, wearing a splits watch in competition no longer brings the benefits that it used to. Heart-rate monitors are helpful in training and when preparing for a big race, but I'd never wear one in the big race itself -- too distracting. GPS (for post-race analysis) is another thread.
As for the watch in question -- no, no sponsorship deal. It's what the athlete feels comfortable wearing, and that's her choice.

it may not be the Blues but the squad have still all signed up to a bunch of sponsors.
She was wearing the wrong brand of watch and though strictly her soul was forfeit to The Devil himself, apparently Derek did a bit of nifty negociation.
Introducing Beelzebub to the modern digital world Derek demonstrated to Satan that it was possible to digitally alter the offending picture to how it appears above, this and a free Craft t-shirt seemed to do the trick.
Actually there was one more condition; the Dark One wanted an image of himself wearing his new t-shirt added to the photo aswell.
(notice how the Master of Darkness is all in black)
