i would love to be able to claim that last leg run for tyrving. sadly that was ingunn weltzein!! (i know its easy to confuse us!!)
i was on first leg, i think im down as the wrong name, i made mistakes on the first and then the long leg back across. was well tough but awesome fun. didnt enjoy have to start in about 600th and walk to the start kite and beyond!

Ha ha, what a classic weekend. Getting a tent pitch right next to the start was a great plus. Watched the start (at the "rumble" of the church bell ?!?) and then tried to sleep... not a chance. Our second leg runner came in an hour later than expected, hobbling on his dodgy hip. Probably explains how I managed to pull in almost 250 places (I don't think that'll happen again ). Our last leg runner summed it up by downing four tinnies as soon as he got back and then went off into town to get penicilin for an injured hand. All that and back home by 8pm. Top 600 placing next year....

On another note, I have heard that they may change the event slightly to encourage the old boys to keep running. The news I heard yesterday is that the Jukola will remain a seven-man team event but that they may split the last leg into two shorter legs for the old boys (the last leg is a bit on the long side for them apparently) so that some teams will have 8 runners. No idea how this will work but time will tell if the suggestion is taken up or not.

That's interesting someone from out club suggested that being able to split legs might be a way forward for the Harvester, may it more viable for the 'ageing'O population.

I suggested it when the Harvester came up here last year, more to solve the problem of having to find exactly 7 / 5 , but it was totally unacceptable for reasons so obscure I now forget them.
