Why does the font used to over print control numbers....

Tess, it was a brilliant day - the spring(?) sunshine dried the mud on my legs/back/arms just nicely. Lots of interest from the general public too.
Helping out in download after my run, practically everyone was saying, totally unbidden, how much they had enjoyed their runs. I loved the blue course, even if I can't tell my 6s from my 9s. Some great route choice too - over or round? it wasn't always obvious.

It was a genuine enquiry (not a gripe!) - and the answer seems to be "because this is the default font in OCAD". And IMHO it would be nice if the default font in OCAD had a 9 with a straight downstroke. But I can't think of an obvious and readily available one so fair enough.

Tess. It was so Popular I didn't get to run. I heard many praises of the courses. A group of HOC junior Boys M16's were moaning about BUOC making them go up, down , up, down , up down. I put them straight and said don't blame these hard working students it's Tess If you look at the results you'll see that you tested them but they rose to the challenge. There were two moans I heard but neither were to do with the courses, one was from a jobs worth and the other had a little justification, they had had a fall on the course and retired to the finish a little shaken and found it unmanned. Unfortunately this was due to a few students being spread a long way. Hopefully the income will help to replenish the coffers. It looks like BUOC is taking off again with several keen new members.
P.S. Get that Adventure Racer coached up, he's quite keen and very fit. He could shock a few at BUSA.

PeteL the point is that you could, with difficulty, see through overprinted circles. With modern printing methods then purple takes priority over all other colours. Then detail underneath is simply not printed at all.

From memory I'm sure you can move purple (and any other) down a layer in OCAD so the the contours become clearer if needed... but prob can't do that if you use CONDES (sure someone will say if it's not correct)

I always move the purple down in OCAD to print underneath black - very useful for junior courses which tend to follow black features.

As usual Gross is wrong (as long as you export the overprint file from CONDES to OCAD).

Two ways round it - either use the Transparent Map option, which mimics a 5-colour print (but makes a HUGE file for printing), or...
use the Transparent option to see any detail covered - sort it out by cutting circles and lines, and then print as normal.
