Just like to thank everyone at NGOC for making it a perfect start to the season at Cleeve hill yesterday. enjoyed the course (except for that ghastly up hill finish) and navigating perfectly form 7 to 9!

Lovely scenic picnic in the car park with old friends.

Home to hot bath, roast beef, a bottle of Merlot and Midsomer Murders.

I'm beginning to believe that Cleeve is blessed with sunshine. I've orienteered there 4/5 times in different seasons and the weather has always been good. Would have been a bit of a challenge in the fog, and the golfers would not have been out so could have run direct instead of having to go round behind them.

yeah sunday was pretty good, early morning, drive round the mountain, catch a cable car up to 1900m, enjoy a top race on a fantastic technical area overlooking kandersteg and surrounding mountains/valleys, stagger back to cable car etc...
perfect views, good weather, top race, free trains

switzerland is fun (although not as good as zermatt as everyone keeps telling me)

gg - out of interest, whereabouts more precisely was the "fantastic, technical" area overlooking Kandersteg (interested, as know the area well from various holidays in the area)?

Saturday was Oeschinensee, sunday was Sunnbuel (or the other way round for half the people). Basically the top of the valleys east and south of Kandersteg, on vaguely flat bits overlooking the town
