i think this is a bit of a hasty statement. we should just let our juniors enjoy their orienteering at this stage instead of making these kind of loaded comments. the expectations are too high.

top 40 in JWOC to top 3 at WOC is a massive, massive jump.

Well said Bendover. Anne is a sensible girl and hopefully will not be pushed into too much training too early, she also has A levels to contend with.

However we should still encourage them all to aim high but not to have ludicrous expectations too early. It's Joe public and the press that have these and then suffer the disappointment

As Anne's proud (and slightly gob-smacked) coach, I'm doing my best to stop her training too hard. But it's difficult when she sneaks in interval sessions with more volume than I was doing even in the good old days when I was running M21E...

Rest assured that I won't be the one pushing her into too much training too early. After a season that exceeded all my (all of our?) expectations, the principal goal for JWOC was to enjoy it and to learn from the experience. Any good results would be icing on the cake -- and the cake was well and truly iced. :boosch:

As for the future: who knows? But I know one person (and her back-up team) who'll give it their best shot.
