Following the number of posts on online entry and the demand for it...
SOL4 & FCC final, Creag Mhic, 7th May.
Online entry now available, at NO extra cost.
http://www.ecko.org.uk/sol4.html
I think this may be the first time online entry has been offered for a Scottish event (excluding the 6 Days).
If anyone experiences problems with it please let ME know rather than moaning to others about it. If I don't know the problems I can't try and fix them.
FVO are running the FCC middle distance race and an open race at Ganavan on Saturday 6th May, a new map is being produced by Stirling Surveys at this moment. The Creag Mhic map is also being updated by them.
So an excellent weekend of orienteering in good areas on new maps, and FREE online entry, what more could you want?

As I understand it, they should pre-enter their normal course. Then prior to the event we will be notified of who should be transferred to the FCC Final classes by Hilary Palmer.
Sorry pyrat, I forgot about the Purple Thistle.

THe problem is that those who are borderline or don't think they'll make it are hardly going to commit to an even 300-400 miles away unless they know they are going to run. Would you go that distance for a normal badge course? Would you pay entry accommodation etc up front?
Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

who cares about what standard of course/event it is, they're hopefully top quality courses on top quality terrain with nice new maps, no matter whether they're called purple, pink, m18 elite or jobby.
lets go orienteering.

The names of those qualifying will be known by 16th April and Hilary Palmer will be sending out invitations then.
The closing date for the event is 22nd April, with online entry at the higher rate up to the 3rd May, so there will still be time to enter.

Thats fine thanks, Paul.
Brooner in an ideal world yea but not in the real world, as a student I'm sure you are aware of costs. Also if you fail to qualify for FCC but have an entry you could be on a course by yourself which is different to FCC so you can't even compare times, it definitely isn't worth it, whatever the area. If it is just round the corner you might consider it but if it is mucho miles and two nights accomodation and car hire that's a different story.
