Don't come on here whinging about uninsurable losses - you knew the stakes when you booked the holiday.

Well that would be fair comment if people hadn't been actively encouraged to believe something else in the selection criteria announcement - there's no maybe - they say the races will be in March.

As I said earlier - it would have been better to say nothing than give out incorrect information as fact.

Having had a chat with one of the junior selectors, am a lot more understanding of the situation EOC are in - not least that the Germans were late in providing the precise date - and will, if selections turn out positively, take the hit, but this rankled (and I say 'we' because it of necessity involved family travel).....

If you really want to represent your country and are dedicated and passionate about doing so you will;
1. attend the selection races, at whatever the cost and disruption to your Sunday dinner.

We did (were it only Sunday dinner!).

2. Make sure that you keep the window during which the event may be held free from pre-booked holidays.

We did (according to EOC documentation).

If a National or other such event crops up then you need to make the personal decision as to where your priorities lie, especially if the event is also a selection race for one of your higher priorities.

No we didn't - Interland was not in the frame at that time.
