Although the entries to BEOC can be restricted the actual number of entries tends to be such that anyone who enters can run. I think it was only the first year in 1998 that they had to turn people away.

I agree with Patrick that it is a shame that the British Championships don't always attract the top runners. Some of my results sound quite good - until you list who wasn't running.

There was a much stronger GB field at the Lithuanian Long Distance Championships in June this year than at BEOC. Why? It was an important test race for Elite athletes... so they used up one of the 52 weeks in the year & went & competed.
