Interesting. I would have thought the opposite was the case - having always assumed that the only function of the Clear station was to remove the previous event. So the one time you shouldn't have to use a Clear station is with a brand new card.

True you would think that - but would you clear just in case or wait until you were being checked in the start lane? I suspect you'd clear.

I think it speaks volumes that SI have dropped the concept of start number in the new Card 6's - i.e. use the software to identify start number from the card number, not program a start number into the card.

In the circumstances where you think there may be someone still out on a course and there are things that can be done I think any club would decide they have do do what is possible. How do you know that one of the registration slips has not blown away or slipped under a seat in the registration car. The critical decision point is when to call it a day. I think Stodge and team made some good decisions
