Respect to Nick for taking on the magazine. I'm sure he'll do a good job and turn the magazine around.

Perhaps the best way for the new team to kick-off the new CompassSport would be to change its name?

"CompassSport" doesn't really give a realistic reflection of our sport. Isn't orienteering more of a competition, a race, a tough, a wild, a dirty, a sweaty, an adventure...sport, rather than a 'compasssport'......

A new more dynamic name could bring back old subscribers and encourage new ones.

I can't say the name really matters it's the content that counts and what others say about it. If it gets rave reviews people will subscribe. However it is important to cover all areas of the market but to make them interesting

Any change to the name would surely have to include a reference to the original magazine, "The magazine formerly known as" sort of thing, otherwise it will lose it's identity, and just become a completely new magazine.

Surely you want a name that reflects the age of its membership.
Compass Sport fits well.

Don't change anything until you're sure you're taking your regulars with you, whilst attracting new punters.

O-Sport seemed to be the best name for a diverse sport like ours. But I guess you do need the word of your sport in the title???

You can't assume that because nick is elite that he will make the magazine elitist. It will be good, i'm sure nicks more than capable

As a long time Compass Sport subscriber I would obviously like it to continue in some form but it needs to be recognised that the world has changed... no longer do you need to source information from a monthly magazine... there is a thing called the internet. Look at fixtures for example... once upon a time you used to read the pages at the back of the magazinbe; then the BOF site started to have fixtures and now clubs, regions and BOF have fixture information online.
