Course Setting in OCAD 8
I'm currently using OCAD 8 for the first time to set courses for an event I'm planning. I've got two excerpts of a map on each base map template (A4 page sized), and need to have half of the course on each. Is there a way of displaying two courses simultaneously on one page, or alternatively of having 2 start triangles in one course? So far, I've had no luck, and I'm almost contemplating hand-drawing the second start triangle onto 100 over-printed maps....

Are you using the template map as a single OCAD map? If not, put the two excerpts together in OCAD first and then set up your courses using 8.
Alternatively, do two events and export each course map from 8 and merge together in OCAD subsequently. You can edit each course map so that you can change the contol numbering.
Any help?

I created the new base map from my excerpts in OCAD 7 and then exported it to 8 (your first option, I think!). I added on all my controls and two start locations, but when I link the courses together, the second start triangle disappears. I assumed there was something in the program which only allows one start per course. When I've tried to do two courses, I can't get them both to display together. Am I doing something really stupid?

Set up two events, one using the first half of the map, and then a second using the other half of the map. They will need to be two separate maps though, not the same one with a course on two different sections.
Export the course maps out of 8 and then combine them as you did with the combined template map you produced. You can alter the control numbers but will still have two starts and two finishes(?)
Hope I understand you right.

Ali, various ways of doing this. Exporting the course maps and then manually editing can do most things. If you're going to Vince's on Saturday evening I could bring my laptop and demonstrate, alternatively e-mail the file(s) and I'll take a look.

I believe the problem with this on Ocad 8 is it adds up the distance around the course for you. By having two starts on the same course, it screws this up because it doesn't know which start to start at so therefore it gets gid of the start. I believe if you put a start-finish symbol, (start triangle in a finish circle)it will let you carry on as this is how I have drawn 'butterfly loops' before. It might however confuse the distance calculation for the course.
Hope that made some sense
