can't see anything on the details regarding this.
Will both runners have the same course at the same time ?
Are there 2 loops ?
There are 2 distances/number of controls quoted for qualifiers so I assume there are 2 parallel courses.

what's the big hoo haa - this is standard practice when there's qually's is it not? top tip.. the person starting with you is not in your heat. it's probably all random in the start list too so as you don't know for sure who's in your heat til you finish. even if you punch a control with someone there's probably common ones. excitement. it's class we are having this format btw.

No hoo haa
no problem
It is standard for qualification at an international race, but most people will never have done this.
I'd suggest its nice to know whats going on.
I agree its good and exciting.
but we don't actually know what the format is - we are making assumptions

In fact I just looked at the event details, as opposed to the Final Details
the original details say :
There will be one qualifying race with the results determining which final you ran in. i.e. the fastest 18 men / 12 women would make the A final
so some clarification is in order

The event guidelines for the British Sprint were recently changed in order to run this event in a format that more closely matches that used in the worlds. The guidelines give more details and probably explain what you need to know. They are available from here.

The above guidelines only say that there may be 1, 2 or 3 qualifiaction courses.
Just got a note from Jenny Peel confirming that
there will be 2 qualification courses for men and 2 for women.
2 people will start on the same minute ( each on one of the 2 courses)
the top 9 men and the top 6 women on each qualification course will proceed to the A final.
with similar approach determining the B and C finals
