From 17th to 25th August we're holding 12 orienteering races in just 9 days across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Lots of different race formats and terrain types, and all with a connection to a castle!

White Rose urban day has a control on the castle wall... and I notice M21Ls outnumber M65Ls so far. Things are looking up! Unfortunately, there's a battle re-enactment inside the castle; otherwise English Heritage were keen for us to run around in there.

Not much discussion about this series of events? It's certainly a good test of either (i) the depth of your kit box, (ii) the speed of your washing and drying or (iii) your tolerance for smelly clothes.
Some really good orienteering so far and a variety of formats. The indoor at Bradford Grammar was particularly mind-blowing. Do indoor events always have such small print?
We've been generally blessed with good conditions, aside from the short but biblical downpour in Lincoln. Looking forward to the last few days and hoping that the body holds out!

I'll be driving up this afternoon, ready to join in the fun from tomorrow until Sunday. Sounds as though I can look forward to running against some knackered (but happy, and just possibly a little odorous) orienteers

A great series of events, that started off with full-blown urban races around Sheffield and Lincoln city centres... followed by a series of well attended evening events.
Interesting park sprints by Aire and Epoc and the always fun and challenging indoor race at Bradford. No, the print isn't always small , and it could have been printed larger tho unfortunately yet there's no international indoor map standard...it just added to the challenge.
Thursday different format sprint+score around Beverley provided more entertainment with the time limit and differing scales. Videos available to view soon.
Onto moorland in Clok land Friday before the action packed White Rose weekend of events.
Weather looking summer-like too , ideal beach conditions.
Unsure if there's a 'Race the Castles' league or best out of...
but certainly seems popular with some travelling orienteers.

To the chap who told me at lunch time today that he was off home to watch the cricket, and met some scepticism from me: you were right, and I was wrong (had the TMS commentary on in the car as I drive home - next best thing...)
PS arrived home knackered, but happy (and more than slightly odorous ). Thanks to all involved in putting on the various events I took part in.
