She's got to take the rough with the smooth. Not the first talented athlete to have a pissed up meltdown that goes very public. I'd expect a b*llocking from someone at HQ and then everyone moves on...and she learns the golden rule of not hammering it without proper preparation just like a race...

Is it really likely to be bad publicity for the sport? I don't think so. Will families be put off from trying it? No.

As for bashing Ravinous for posting? Biggest O news article for ages, how would that not make it on to Nope!

Hopefully Cat has already had a definitive response from BOF about her future. For fairness reasons she must not be left hanging waiting for decisions about the future from Governing Bodies (BOF), financial supporters and coaches.

@canol I believe she got notification about sanctions from the governing body months ago, they don't publish information about such sanctions. The Performance Programme's main priority is to win medals and get top 10 results in World Champs so the sanctions are not going to be anything that negatively impacts her orienteering career. If anything it will most likely be some kind of educational intervention hopefully some nutrition and psychology support.

Really hope the lifetime ban comment is TIC. As a GP I hate the fact that "bringing the profession into disrepute" is still used as an excuse to "discipline" doctors that a GMC panel feels haven't been sufficiently upstanding citizens.
If you break the law you should face appropriate legal sanctions. I don't expect orienteers or doctors to be saints.
She already knows it was ******** stupid.

If a sport has someone who repeatedly breaks the law that's a different matter.

In my opinion promoting onion throwing as orienteering is bringing the sport into disrepute so perhaps whoever was responsible should be banned for life.
