Rothiemurchus
Some cheerful news for the end of the week. Upper Rothiemurchus has been sold to the Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) by Johnnie Grant so this opens up the prospect of orienteering once again. Under the Grants it was a no-go area (and this applied to many other sports). Restrictions to access apply (prime capercaillie hunting territory) between the beginning of March and end of August but we look forward to making use of this area sometime into the future. I have a meeting with the FCS on the 7 May (WOC business) but Rothiemurchus has been added to the agenda. I am not clear of the boundaries of the new area but no doubt these will be revealed in due course. Originally (pre-capercaillie issues) we had permission to use some of the area for WOC - as long as we used paths only!

Re: Rothiemurchus
Good news as that is one of the top real tough classic style orienteering areas in Scotland.
