The kind of terrain you describe is brilliant, it's the grotty bramble infested rubbish we're not so keen on!

Err, no, Gross - but many of us enjoy more than just running in terrain. There are many different aspects to heaven.....and hell!
I've had a brilliantly enjoyable autumn: great terrain orienteering in Norfolk (Sheringham), the New Forest and today at Brimham Rocks, but also some great urban racing in Cambridge, Salisbury, Edinburgh and Scarborough. That mix is definitely my idea of orienteering heaven!

Here were the options...
Pamber Forest
Epping SW
Roydon Common & Grimston Warren
Duns
Wareham Forest / Agglestone
Cowdray Forest
Which did you have in mind?
I went to a forest event once, and it was awful. I got over it.
Coming soon
Boston City Race (May, maybe not)
Coasts and Islands (Shetland)

TBF Roydon Common is excellent - loads of contours and much improved since they chopped all the wood down.
Mind you, it's a long way from Scotland.

Go to whichever one you like.... my comment wasn't against any event today... just thought it a big change from 'the o;d days' to read an urban event is 'orienteering heaven'. I find it a bit sad actually.... but I'm a fat old git who enjoys the past

You missed out Forvie - great contours, good running temperature (not so good for hanging around

Jon: the events in question were last weekend. Forvie was good today, although you neglected to mention the ultra-reliable timing system

I didn't want to compromise my eligibility for next years SHI. And I don't much care for emit - how did that work out by the wayBig Jon wrote:You missed out Forvie

To be fair
To be honest Peasholm had more forest orienteering than Forvie and Roydon put together!

Event was great - but was the first ever brikke failure for me (my first emit event was in 1994). Not a bad failure rate.
