And the weather? Forecast suggested 90mph gusts on the tops - it was hard enough running into 30mph here in the east.

Not as bad as that: wet and windy to start, but handleable, drying up for the later starters.

Relieved my weekend in the Lakes is in a week's time - even if I've missed the true navigational challenge ...

A great weekend's orienteering: absolutely loved the middle distance - superb middle distance forest, great course. Sunday was rough, tough and very demanding navigationally - a real test! Definitely on the long side, but that's what we were warned. Personally, I did my usual act of being too scrappy around 5-6-7, and tired a lot in the last 20 minutes, but really enjoyed it,, and overall pleased that, like KingPenguin, no serious blemishes. Thanks to LOC for a great weekend.

It's been a great year's orienteering so far - and we're only just over a quarter of the way in!

Glad people seemed to enjoy their weekend in the Lakes - we did promise some tough 'O', and from comments heard on both days, it seems we didn't disappoint.
Just a quick post to say that RouteGadget is now up and running for both days - I'm am especially interested in some of those long legs from North to South in Graythwaite...

I was happy with my choice at the time, though I did feel "sluggish" on this for some reason and did drop into the end of a man-eating bog part way when just a few metres left was just wet. Looking at it now I believe I can see a better option, even before knowing where others went. My main mistake was direction of attack in the final few 100 metres - passed very close in the thicker trees just above the feature, then passed below on the second attempt from the opposite direction. Not complaining - the map and control site were accurate and the fault was mine.
