How not to lay out the final control at a major sprint event

So do we get a practice at this system?
Serves me right for not reading the small print on entry info With having SI numbers next to our names on Fabian I surmised (wrongly) that it was SI for all races.

Being extremely negative I guess we will be forced into using this system in many southern events in the future as the system has been purchased.

BTW, at the weekend I overheard a discussion - at a rough estimate people without emit cards must have paid out about £7500 in hire fees. Can this be correct

Hiring EMIT cards at £1 per person per day will give you about £7500.

That's why it would have been better to have used the EMIT touch-free system, which is being used for the Brits Urban event on Mon 6 May, but the admin overhead of issuing etags for Day 1 and then ecards for day 2 was considered too much hassle.

Whilst touch-free EMIT is much easier, is it any safer ?
I believe the technology (and battery) is still in the portable brikke, so failure must be a slight risk, but there is no option for a backup pin mark.

RS -- its not in the small print (yet ). During the course planning (not yet
complete) it started to appear that a couple of the longer courses may need in excess
of 30/35 controls so the options were:

1. Supply a lot of people with newer SI cards
Or
2. Use the new Emit Touch-Free Pro controls and "cards".

As the planner was happy with the new Emit kit (including placing and securing etc)
and nearly all previous users of the system had thought it at least OK the organising
club opted to go with that system.

But I doubt that it was there when you entered, as the final decision was not made
until fairly recently, but I should have checked the organisers updates to
the page before my previous post (now I'm x 2)
