Re: Inside Orienteering
Another "nice" overview.
I can understand that the vision and goals must be repeted over and over again but I would rather read an in-depth analysis or at least more facts over the 3 main goals.
1st goal: Participation and Growth
What are other IOF's KPIs on this goal? Are they relevant when decision are made?
I know that IOF makes one time per year a survey to collect data about number of active/registered orienteers and number of participants on national championships in different disciplines and age groups. And we all know that participation in many traditional countries is in decline. I am not a fan of this kind of PR news. I really can't understand why IOF treats these data as a TOP secret? We need to share more data if we want to "work more closely". Two-way communication.
Suggestion
Be more open and share data online. It won't have any affect on additional work/costs. I would love to see also some key historical and sporting data under each federation beside formal registration data.
2nd goal: Visible and atractive
Great to hear about "major TV project". As Brain said "one of the best kept sporting secrets". Be more visible, informative and more clear about status quo and goals.
Suggestion
Make sepparate page and inform members on regularly basis about TV project progress.
3rd goal: Olympic games
Well, it wouldn't be any harm to share more detail about strategic plan, activity plan and KPIs. Are we on 10%, on 50% or on 99% of what we can do without politicians? Some sports attrack sponsors without "Olympic Games label" so this should be our primary goal because when we will figured out this, everything else will be much easier?
Suggestion
Make marketing commission. Go hard or go home.
