Re: JK, the brand
One of my trusty contacts has just point out the similarity between the new JK logo and that of the Youth Sport Trust so hopefully a bit of stripped down recycling didn't cost too much

Agree with andypat, suggests strapline "let's knock one back at the JK".
Mind you, that's not so bad an idea.

There is also a marked similarity between the logo and that employed by Kwik Kopy around the world. That logo has been in use since the 1970s. The Kall Kwik franchise who are the UK licensees of Kwik Kopy changed their logo some years ago.
If BO employed a professional designer then maybe they should have come up with something more original rather than a re-do of a 40 year old logo. Or am I being unfair? See link....

Re: JK, the brand
Can see why this is being done ~ probably saves money in the long run. But to my mind it's a shame to say goodby to opportunity for each region in turn to show a bit of originality in designing their logo for their JK.
JK Logo's were a bit of harmless fun ~ some more talked about than others. Now it's to be the same as last time but with possibly a change of colour. Rather dull.

Re: JK, the brand
I don't think those other logos are that similar.
There is only so much variation you can get if you want to have a person running holding a map, which has been the basis of many orienteering logos, and you could argue is the most identifiable orienteering corporate image.
Do a Google search for orienteering clip art images and you will see what I mean.
The problem with letting a region "show a bit of originality in designing their logo" is that you can end up with something that doesn't show orienteering off in the best light. There are plenty of examples that have been mentioned already and a lot more that haven't.
There have been many discussions in the past about how you decide on and market a level of event. One of the common responses was that the quality can't be guaranteed by the level, but that there were certain "brands" that were more trustworthy and that we should market by brand rather than level, for example, Scottish 6 Days, Scottish O League, Cumbrian Gallopen to name a few. So having an identifiable brand to market is important, and it saves re-inventing the wheel every year.

Re: JK, the brand
I'm slow off the mark but that JK logo - it's got to be a joke
It looks like a stylised hooray Henry with a can in its' hand.
Who on earth came up with that? In the words of JC, they need taking out and shooting.....
