Tatty - we did sometimes refer to the man in question as:
"he who is an entire club"
However, the last time I saw the SEOA membership list Middxo had 6 members - that surprised me too. Someone once said to me (can't remember who) that the man in question had decided it was easier to keep the Club going than wind it up as there was money in the bank and it was all too complex.

Re: UKRL: Goodbye EUOC and ShUOC
The problem is that as relay captain I have to pick a team to represent my club and try to win a championship. I've spent a lot of time over the years fighting against racism. My club constituion says I have to be fair to all members. The club equity policy says I must not discriminate on grounds of race. However, BOF says I must discriminate on grounds of race if I want my club to win.
It seems to me that my only option is to resign my post and personally I will find it difficult to run for a team this year (first time I've missed a BROC for.....?? probably 30 years). I don't think I can support a system that says a competition between clubs is only a competition between those in the club who happen to be British.
Overreaction?
As AndyC has pointed out, there is a difference between nationality and race. It is also a British championships. There are a lot of different ways to interpret this for a relay championships but I don't consider "club members who are British" as an overly oppressive or unreasonable interpretation of it.
I'm not saying its right, but rather than throw a strop and resign, wouldn't it be better to fit your team members into acceptable teams (maybe with the more competitive non comp runners running first leg to have a more competitive race) try and instigate a change.
