The info was on the Clyde website until the closing date. I assume if you had gone to the trouble of booking accommodation you would also have pre-entered.
As noted above the Urban even was put on to try and tempt the Northerners to make a weekend of it. It failed in that respect. Only 10 entries meant it wasnt viable to go ahead. Most of those who came to the 11/8 person wouldnt be staying over so we appreciated it was a bit much expecting them also to travel to the event on saturday.
Paul makes a fair point about pairing it with a SOL - I think thats an issue for the fixtures people to sort out. I dont think its any more reasonable to ask Clyde to stage the 11 person on Deeside than it is to expect Gramp to travel to Glasgow for it.
Orienteering - its no walk in the park

Re: SCOTTISH 11/8 or whatever Relays
EUOC usually make an effort to bring teams to the relays, this becomes very hard out of term time, as I know it has 3 out of the last 5 years. Unfortunatly unable to even make a team this year.
The event has been very good to bring freshers and newcomers to as an introduction to orienteering, getting to know everyone etc. For the last couple of years I've been considering making a plea that the organisers of the event could check university term dates and place the event a week or two after the start of term. This would seem to agree with the current mid-September dates being thrown around.
This would be a great help to EUOC and any other Scottish university clubs which will hopefully pop up one day. For us the event on it's own would have enough draw as we'd make a weekend out of it anyway, doing some training on the Saturday.

Agree with the suggestion that it's paired up with a SOL. Maybe that should also apply for SOLs too - is SOL6 going to suffer from being too close to SOL5 (both geographically and temporally)? Only two weeks between them and a fair drive for central-belters but surely the lure of Glen Dye in early autumn will be enough...?

I like the idea of making it an 8-stage for everyone and combining it with a SOL if this would help attract numbers, but please keep SOLs on Sundays - I work most Saturdays!
The Mugdock event was very enjoyable (my first relay) and acted as a great club get-together. On top of that, any event that can provide me with my first sporting trophy should be persevered with.

Does any body know if there is going to be a 2012 event as Sept/Oct already look busy?

There are tentative plans to combine the 11/8 person relay with the SHI relay on Saturday 22nd September in North Perthshire. Make a weekend of it with SOL5.
